Foster is also a former Wales International player earning 63 caps and scored 9 goals. She  joins Charlotte Carpenter as the second FIFA Women’s Referee from Wales.

Foster, who has progressed through the successful FAW Referee Development groups said: “When I finished playing there was obviously a huge gap in my life in terms of participating in football. The more I thought about it [becoming a referee], the more I felt I could make a contribution and it would give me that chance to get back on the pitch.

“Playing for Wales was always a huge honour for both myself and my family, so to reach international standard as a referee is just as special and I am very excited.”

The Female only Referee Courses will be taking place at the University of South Wales Sports Park, Treforest Industrial Estate, on the following dates:

January: 4, 11, 18, 25
