WEST WALES FA REFEREE COURSE

The West Wales Football Association will hold a New Referees Training Course on Thursday, 11 February at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.

Added Time

The course will consist of eight two hour sessions on a weekly basis between 7.00pm and 9.00pm with Referees Instructor Eddie King.

Once the course is completed, it will be possible to progress through the system and even potentially progress to the FIFA International List of Referees and Assistant Referees. This gives match officials the opportunity to officiate in all parts of Europe and on occasions in other parts of the world.

Referees Courses operate throughout the year across the whole of Wales and if you are interested in becoming a Referee, please contact FAW Referees Manager Ray Ellingham, REllingham@faw.co.uk.

Foster is also a former Wales International player earning 63 caps and scored 9 goals. She  joins Charlotte Carpenter as the second FIFA Women’s Referee from Wales.

Foster, who has progressed through the successful FAW Referee Development groups said: “When I finished playing there was obviously a huge gap in my life in terms of participating in football. The more I thought about it [becoming a referee], the more I felt I could make a contribution and it would give me that chance to get back on the pitch.

“Playing for Wales was always a huge honour for both myself and my family, so to reach international standard as a referee is just as special and I am very excited.”

The Female only Referee Courses will be taking place at the University of South Wales Sports Park, Treforest Industrial Estate, on the following dates:

January: 4, 11, 18, 25
February: 2, 10, 15, 22

All courses will take place between 7pm and 9pm.

For more information or to book a place on the course, please contact FAW Referee Instructor Ryan Thomas on 07710 412422 or r.thomas6@ntlworld.com.
